Intensive redevelopment of Access Storage Facility, Sturt's Lock
Note: this application was suspended during the cyber crash in October 2020. It was revived in March 2021 with the new reference 2021/0680
Here is an artist's impression of how Sturt's might look - from an imaginary viewpoint with a wide-angle lens.
Very few people will try to claim that the existing building has much character but it generates no noise and it rarely plunges its neighbours into the shade.
The proposed balconies and public precincts, by contrast, could rob this stretch of the canal of its tranquillity forever.
Impact on canal and surrounding area
Why to object
If you live in the line of sight - or within earshot - of this site then you will have probably answered this question already. However, this scheme could affect the wellbeing of all canal users, not just its immediate neighbours. If you are concerned that this scheme could adversely affect the character of the canal or make this open space feel more claustrophobic then you should take this opportunity to register your comments with the council officer.
How to object
Please send your objections to Gareth.Barnett@hackney.gov.uk and planning@hackney.gov.uk, quoting reference 2018/3517.
