Development at Bow Wharf

There are plans to remove some trees and to build some homes right up to the edge of the Regent's Canal and the Hertford Union Canal.

These plans have been rejected by Tower Hamlets Council and the applicant has appealed. This was assessed by the Planning Inspectorate in Bristol (between November 2013 and June 2014) and the appeal was allowed. The document behind that decision is available here.

ANALYSIS

Comments on specific issues (towpath character and safety).

The Friends of Regent's Canal have been reviewing these plans since April 2013.

Will this development enhance or spoil the character of this area?

Will it feel like part of the countryside? Or the middle of a housing estate?

Who will gain or lose from this? Boaters? Walkers? Nearby residents?
