Severe pollarding of mature trees in Granary Street
Camden planning ref 2024/3795/T
In September 2024 Camden Council published a planning application to drastically reduce some mature trees in Granary Street, and this was swiftly signed off by the planning department without any form of public consultation.
The most likely motivation for this application is to undermine these trees in advance of a more brutal application to destroy them completely.
This is linked to a controversial proposal to impose a 21-storey tower block that will overlook the canal. Please visit our webpage for more information and context.
How does this affect the Regent's Canal?
This has no direct impact on the canal, but it is part of an aggressive proposal to undermine the canal and to threaten the wellbeing of residents and visitors in the immediate vicinity of the canal.
Tree canopies like this are as important to people's wellbeing as the canal itself.
