St Pancras Hospital Development Plans

Residents' Review of Consultation

This web page contains extracts from a document that was submitted to the planning consultants by a large group of local residents who had been engaged in the public consultation. The original letter included contersignatures from over 35 households and it was accompanied by supporting evidence in an appendix. A further 275 names were added to a petition that was launched at the same time.

We are writing to express our opposition to aspects of the emerging plans for the St Pancras Hospital Development that we believe are harmful. As residents, we have strong concerns about the height, design and usage of the proposed development.

The following are of key concerns to many local stakeholders, signatory to this letter:

1. Height of Plot D:

2. Use Class of Plot D:

3. Façade of Plot D:

4. SPD's Northwest Corner Square adjacent to Plot D:

5. Setback of Plot C & Removal of Street Lining Trees on Granary Street:

6. Rational for Removing the Tallest Chimney/Concrete Tower

7. Consultation Process

Despite refurbishment efforts, the key issues as outlined will negatively impact the development, the local area, neighbours, and the canal. We recommend the development team and Camden borough planners consider advocating for a more fitting alternative.

We welcome a collective session to express our concerns in person and we are looking forward to hearing from you. If necessary, we will seek the views of local ward members and planning councillors, local planning officers, further local stakeholders, and statutory authorities to support our objections.

Kind regards,
Heidi Ober, Allie Piehn, Alex Perez (and many others)
