Objection to Planning Application 2024/3019/P
Dear Edward Hodgson,
I am writing on behalf of the Friends of Regent's Canal to object to planning application 2024/3019/P (pavilion within Coal drops Yard). The main reason for objecting is that this proposal is disrespectful to the industrial heritage of this important site.
I am aware that this application has now been withdrawn but I still want it to be placed on record that the Friends of Regent's Canal are not supportive of this proposal. The Coal Drops Yard and the Granary building are important heritage assets that remind us of the historic relationship between the canal and the railways. Any suggestion that the yard is an "under-utilised and exposed space" must be challenged, because one of the main benefits of the King's Cross redevelopment project was to expose and open up spaces like this to the public and to leave them uncluttered. Heritage assets need to be appreciated not "utilised".
Best wishes,
Ian Shacklock
