Subject: Friends of Regent's Canal - public meeting on 30th March.

Dear Friends,

NEXT MEETING

Our next meeting will take place on Wednesday 30th March at the London Canal Museum, starting at 7pm.

Please visit the following page to see a flyer for the meeting.

As you will notice from the flyer one of the main topics for discussion will be the controversial redevelopment plans for Bangor Wharf in Camden Town. These have been submitted by One Housing and have been reported in the Camden New Journal and Waterways World.

Please contact me if there are any items that you would like to be added to the agenda or if you can assist resident and canals users in opposing One Housing's plans.

VODAFONE MASTS IN CONSERVATION AREA

At our December meeting we heard about plans to install communications equipment in a popular stretch of the conservation area that includes Holborn Studios and Sturt's Lock. A lot of canal users' views on this have remained neutral to date - partly because mobile phones are critical to modern life and partly because the first batch of equipment does not seem too intrusive - but public opinion could change if the council yields to Vodafone and sets a precedent for others to follow.

Here are some links that describe the context and that will help you to object.

The most constructive thing we can do as a group is to help Vodafone to find more suitable rooftops in locations that are not used by the general public as tranquil open spaces.

Best wishes,
