Subject: Dates for your diary.

Dear Friends,

OUR NEXT MEETING.

Our next public meeting will take place on Monday 7th December at Holborn Studios (N1 7ED) starting at 7pm. Please contact me if you would like anything added to the agenda or if you would like to contribute any photographs or reports that could help to create a review of the year.

DRAINED CANAL.

Please take the opportunity to visit the Regent's Canal downstream of Old Ford Lock. The canal has been drained to enable repairs to the waterway walls and although this has caused inconvenience to boaters it makes interesting viewing for walkers. A volunteering event has been arranged this Saturday (21st November) to help clear up litter on the canal bed. Please contact Debbie Vidler (07825-099167) or Enquiries.London@canalrivertrust.org.uk to book a place.

Further details about volunteering are available on this web page

CURRENT CAMPAIGNS

We have heard no news from Camden or Hackney councils about the planning applications for Dead Dogs Basin or Holborn Studios and although the official consultation periods have ended this should not deter you from continuing to write to the planning officers, the councillors or the press.

Here are our web pages on these topics:

...and here are some recent articles in the London press:

NEW CAMPAIGN

In the past week we have seen an outline proposal to convert Bangor Wharf into a mixed-use development that is likely to undermine rather than utilise the canal infrastructure. Please do not be afraid to question this proposal as it has ignored the Blue Ribbon policies in the London Plan.

See our webpage for further information:

...and for a reminder of the London Mayor's Blue Ribbon policies please visit this page:

We are now seeking suggestions for using the ground floor of these unique premises for water-related purposes.

Best wishes,

Ian Shacklock
