Subject: Friends of Regent's Canal - public meeting next Wednesday and other news.

Dear Friends,

NEXT MEETING

Our next public meeting will take place on Wednesday 19th February (London Canal Museum at 7pm).

For directions to the canal museum, please visit this page:-

http://friendsofregentscanal.org/events/2014/2014-02-19/flyer-for-meeting-20140219.html

The agenda will include brief discussions on the future of our group and opportunities for volunteering. We will also address the threat of another unauthorised floating carnival and then we will discuss mooring and pollution issues that are continuing to attract press attention. It is likely that many of the issues will focus on the Islington stretch of the canal, since Islington Council is taking the lead at the moment, but I would like to remind everybody that our day-to-day interests span the whole length of the canal and it is important that we continue to welcome canal users from all five boroughs to our meetings.

I look forward to some lively and constructive discussions amongst a wide selection of canal users.

LITTER CLEARING EVENT

There will be an organised event tomorrow (Saturday 15th February) at Kentish Town Lock, NW1 8NZ. This is an opportunity for volunteers to pull out floating litter and to cut back vegetation in the vicinity of Camden Lock Market. Session times are 10am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-4pm. For further details of this event (and other volunteering opportunities) please visit

HOLBORN STUDIOS UPDATE

Many of you will be interested to learn that Hackney Council has decided to add the iconic Holborn Studios buildings to its Local Heritage List. If you would like to pass any comments about this to the council's conservation officer then please contact me directly or visit the following web page to find out which criteria have been met to justify this decision.
