Subject: Friends of Regent's Canal - our next public meeting and other news

Dear Friends,

Our next public meeting will take place on Wednesday 19th February (London Canal Museum at 7pm) and I welcome any suggestions you might have for the agenda.

Minutes of the previous meeting are now available on our website and can be reached via the following link.

You will notice from the minutes that two of the agenda items needed to be deferred to the next meeting. One of these items was a discussion on the future of our group. If you are interested in contributing to this discussion in advance of the meeting then please visit the following page.

The other deferred item was a discussion on volunteering opportunities. We will always want to facilitate volunteering activities, even though we do not have the resources to manage them, and as a minimum we will publicise events on the following page. (You will notice that the next volunteering event is this Saturday near Victoria Park).

At our next meeting it might be appropriate to discuss a recent petition that has been directed at the Canal and River Trust. This relates to the way that certain boaters are evicted from their homes. I know that opinions on this are very divided within our group, for understandable reasons, so I am not expecting any consensus on whether to back or oppose this petition. But I think that most people will agree that there is a lot of room for improvement in this sensitive area and that we do not want these types of problems to be replicated along the Regent's Canal. Please visit the following page for further information and feel free to submit comments for discussion amongst our group.
