Subject: Friends of Regent's Canal - next public meeting and other news

Dear Friends,

NEXT MEETING

Our next public meeting will take place at the London Canal Museum on Wednesday 20th November at 7pm. (For directions, see http://friendsofregentscanal.org/events/2013/2013-11-20/flyer-for-meeting-20131120.html ).

One of the main items for discussion will be the recent motion that was passed by Islington Council in the hope of accelerating the Canal and River Trust's commitment to resolving mooring, litter and anti-social behaviour issues. These are all sensitive topics and we need a good understanding of the rules, constraints and risks before forming any collective opinions. Please visit this page to see the context of this motion:-

Minutes of the previous meeting (11th September) are available here. Several of these topics could be raised again at next week's meeting when we attempt to measure recent improvements.

PUBLIC OPEN DAYS AT HAMPSTEAD ROAD LOCKS

On Friday 15th November, between 10am and 11am, representatives from Starbucks will answer questions about the community resources available in the newly refurbished visitor centre in the Lock Keeper's Cottage (opposite Camden Lock Market).

On Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th November, between 10am and 4pm, members of the public will be able to walk into a dewatered lock and to discuss maintenance issues with the Canal and River Trust. See here for further information, including recommended footware and other maintenance schedules.
