Subject: Friends of Regent's Canal - Public Meeting next Wednesday

Dear Friends,

Our next public meeting will take place on Wednesday 7th November (7pm to 9pm) at the London Canal Museum.

At this meeting we will discuss proposals for the demolition of Holborn Studios. At least one of the consultants will be available to hear our comments. It is not too late to influence the design, and I know that many of you are keen to see the industrial facade preserved, even if the cobbled courtyard is lost. The Victorian chimney is a particularly significant landmark and I am sure that this will be included in our discussions.

We will also be hosting members of the Mount Anvil construction team, who have recently relocated the hoardings between City Road and the North basin. They will want to hear about our long established expectations for a walkway around all the edges of the basin; and they will share ideas for breathing some life into the Plaza.

There are a number of other topics that we hope to discuss (including the Olympic Park, alternative cycle routes, mooring proposals, bi-centenary celebrations) but I will wait to hear who is able to attend before I construct a detailed agenda.

If you are unable to attend, but still wish to comment on any proposals or other issues, then please reply by e-mail in the next few days.

Best wishes,

Ian Shacklock
Chair, Friends of Regent's Canal
