Subject: Friends of Regents Canal - meeting on 7th December

Dear Friends,

I can now confirm that our next meeting will take place at the London Canal Museum on Wednesday 7th December.

We will compile an agenda once we know who is able to attend, and it is likely that we will be discussing litter problems, volunteering options, mayoral election issues and celebrations for the Regent's Canal's bicentenary in 2012.

The London Assembly and London Mayor elections are scheduled for 3rd May 2012 and this will be our last chance to discuss issues that we should raise during the campaigns. In the new year we should take every opportunity to quiz the candidates on topics such as towpath traffic, alternative cycle routes, water-borne freight, pollution, the Blue Ribbon Network, canal-side development, and so on. If you have any suggestions then please send them to me or bring them along to the meeting.

I also want to draw your attention to the following public meeting that is taking place on Monday evening. This is a few minutes walk from Highbury & Islington station, and I think it should interest many of you. I appreciate that this is not directly related to the canal, but I am sure that most friends of the canal are enemies of pollution and the topics in this meeting should overlap with our biodiversity commitments. If you want more information then please get in touch with me.
