Dear Friends,
On 6th August our central government launched a 12-week public consultation to collect our views on its drastic planning reform proposals. This consultation ends on Thursday 29th October.
If these proposals go unchallenged then local democracy will never be the same again. They have been promoted as an opportunity to streamline cumbersome procedures, but there is an agenda to exclude the public (and our local representatives) from important checks and balances and anyone without the latest smartphone gadgetry or a Facebook account could soon feel alienated.
Please visit our web page for a reminder of how this launch was announced in the press:-

If there is sufficient interest then I will submit a response in the name of the Friends of Regent's Canal. In addition, everybody is encouraged to submit an individual response in a personal capacity, either via e-mail or via the online form. You will find details on the following web page:-

If you have any questions or if you wish to influence our response then please reply to me before Tuesday 27th October.
Best wishes,
Ian Shacklock
