| 1. | Introductions |
| Please add your name to the attendance sheet; this will ensure that you receive future updates. Attendees will introduce themselves at the start of the meeting. If this is your first meeting then please mention how you heard about the event. Please also mention any special interests, because this will help us to put you in touch with the right people after the meeting. | |
| 2. | Announcements and Updates |
| This is a chance to comment on any burning issues from the previous minutes. Councillor Martin Klute will advise on issues related to noise and smoke pollution, litter collection, etc. There will be time for an update – but not a debate – on towpath cycling. We can also set some provisional dates for next year’s public meetings. | |
| 3. | The Big Waterways Clean-Ups 2012 |
| Ben Fenton (Thames 21) will tell us what is happening next year in readiness for the Olympics, and will explain how volunteers can be recruited and deployed. | |
| 4. | Litter Clearance and Habitat Enhancements. |
| Phil Paulo (London Wildlife Trust) will tell us about a project/programme to improve the canal habitat in the vicinity of the massive development at King’s Cross. | |
| 5. | Cross-Party Support for the Canal (London Elections, May 2012). |
| This is a chance to explain the dialogue that we have started with the four main political parties and their candidates. They are aware of our issues and interests and we must now wait to see what appears in their manifestos. No meetings are planned but there is scope for written correspondence and we will probably publish the questions and answers on our website. | |
| 6. | Impact of the Olympic Games. |
| Roger Squires (St Pancras Cruising Club) will tell us about next year’s restrictions that will affect the boating community, schools and other groups. | |
| 7. | Celebrations and Opportunities in 2012. |
| Rob Inglis will tell us about some special events and causes for celebration. In particular, how we will want to research and commemorate the period 1812 to 1820 when the Regent’s Canal was constructed. | |
| 8. | Q&A Session |
| Please write your questions or suggestions on a card and hand them in prior to the start of this session. |
