COMMUNITIES COME FIRST

About the organisers

The Canal Club Community Garden was built in 2010 and overlooks the canal and Victoria Park. It is a small but perfectly formed wild flower and food growing community garden built by boat dwellers and the local community. (It is normally open on Tuesdays and Sundays during the growing season from 2pm to 6.30pm but sadly it is closed to the public this summer due to the COVID-19 lockdown and guidelines.) The garden has been grown to encourage visitors such as bees, butterflies and other wild life including like-minded people! The hosts hold all kind of events such as making breads and pizzas in the outdoor clay oven. They have small plants of flowers and vegetables in the growing season to take away for a small donation. Apple pressing to make fresh juice and cider in September. They also hold art workshops and events and exhibitions. Gardening tips and seed sharing is normally an ongoing event.
