Preparation for Angel Canal Festival 2012

The purpose of this web page is to help us to design and construct banners and other displays for our stall.

Why do we need a stall at this event?

This could be a great opportunity to promote our work, to raise awareness about canal issues and to recruit new supporters. It will also serve as a convenient meeting point.

What will we want to display or collect?

As a minimum, we will want to advertise our imminent public meeting (Wednesday 5th September) and we will want to supply our website and e-mail addresses.

We will also want to collect names and addresses of people who want to hear from us.

Additionally, we need to display photographs, newspaper articles, reports and other information, to demonstrate the work that we have undertaken over the past two years.

Can you help?

Our requirements are very basic. No food needs to be prepared and no money is changing hands. We are merely exchanging information. Please contact ianshacklock@gmail.com if you are able to help with the following:-

  • Supply of leaflets (e.g. Living Streets, London Wildlife Trust)
  • Preparation of information
  • Setting up of the stall on Sunday morning
  • Supply of materials (e.g. display boards)
  • Manning of the stall during the festival

Last year's stall

Here are some photographs of the Friends of Regent's Canal stall at the Angel Festival on Sunday 4th September 2011.

The next few photographs show the stall frame, where we can hang things from.
The table surface is 7 feet wide and 3 feet deep.

There are no side panels, so if we need any cork boards, display boards, etc, then we must provide them ourselves. This could pose problems with transport, so it is going to be prudent to prepare for collapsible displays that can be suspended or strapped to the frame.

Here are some examples of other stalls, posters, etc. These could give us ideas about how we can make use of the space and the structure.

Available Materials

We do not have any banners. So our best option is to print "FRIENDS OF REGENT'S CANAL" in a very large font, across several pages of A4. These can be joined together using plastic A4 sleeves and a length of string (or washing line).

We have a green tarpaulin that we can use as a cover on the stall counter.
The tarpaulin measures 8ft 2in by 5ft 6in. (The stall counter measures 7ft by 3ft)
